Meet Anand Narayan
Stories Woven In Colour And Form
Hey there! I’m Anand — a self-taught visual artist, where colours have subtly followed me through the moments of my life.
Though I come from a world of commerce, and once lived a fast-paced life of an equities trader, art was always there — a quiet companion, a passion along the side, a spark I couldn’t ignore. Around 2017–18, that spark grew brighter. I found myself drifting towards it, not with a plan, but what I can only describe as a calling. Which it truly was, what started with bottle art gradually found its way to paper, and eventually settled into my now-favourite medium: acrylic on canvas.
I’ve never had formal training in art — and perhaps that’s been a gift. It allowed me to explore without boundaries, to listen to my own rhythm. Of course, I’m learning now, refining my form through classes, but the heart of my work still lives in freedom and play.
My process is fluid. I start with a theme, often sparked by observation or memory. I research, I gather images, I build stencils — and then I paint. The act of colouring is instinctive and natural, meditative even. Once I have my sketch, I just let the colours flow. I don’t rush it. Some pieces take days, others unfold over weeks. There is no fixed timeline, because no two works are ever the same. I let them breathe.
My art is deeply inspired by the mystique of Buddha, the soul of India, and the textures of life itself. I try to blend serenity with vibrancy, narrative with stillness. Every piece holds a story — sometimes quiet, sometimes bold — and always honest.
This journey has been one of rediscovery, of turning within and letting imagination spill outward. I invite you to wander through my work, to feel what you feel, and maybe, to find a bit of yourself along the way.
Let’s journey through colour, spirit, and story.
